Since the tragic fall of the Seattle Post Intelliger the paper has gone to a stricly online only website as we all know. I am currently taking a class at Everett Community College called Online Journalism and I am going to explain some of the similarities and differences between the Seattlepi website (seattlepi.com) and the Seattletimes web site (seattletimes.com).
Since I mostly write sports stories for the Everett Clipper newspaper I thought that I should compare the sports pages that these news sites display.
The two news sites differ in that the seattletimes.com sports page looks more like a print layout at first with big headlines like Tony Bennett going to the University of Virginia (bummer for WSU) and some pictures. Seattlepi.com has every major sport listed into categories that show the biggest headlines from each individual sport. Both have thier advantages and disadvatages and both are very different. Both of these sites showcase their blogs at the top of their pages.
As far as the writing within the stories I read all I could about Portland State coach Ken Bone and the possibility of him coaching for the Cougs next season and the Seattle Times didn't have the links and pictures that the Seattle PI had in their stories. Although both are similiar in their user generated content with the comments at the end of the articles.
Overall I liked seattletimes.com better and was disapointed with seattlepi.com. I thought that the Times web site did all the work for me with displaying the biggest headlines and they grabbed my attention better. The PI was nice because whatever sport I am interested in I could find the biggest headlines, but still left me disapointed. You would think that after the switch to online that it would grab readers attention like no other news site, but it did not for me.

Morning, TJ. Interesting comments! Check out Broasna's blog as he focused on sports too. Watch out for typos and spelling errors in your writing! Remember, this is an academic/professional endeavor. And remember to follow AP Style. Good job keeping your paragraphs mostly short, but be sure to put a space between each of your paragraphs.
